Opposition criticizes ministers' attendance at Sheinbaum event

PAN and PRI deputies questioned the attendance of Supreme Court ministers at President Claudia Sheinbaum's May 31 report at the Monument to the Revolution.

Margarita Zavala, federal PAN deputy, said the ministers should not have attended the event. “The Court ministers should not have gone to yesterday’s rally. It wasn’t even a report, it was a rally,” she wrote on X.

Kenia López Rabadán, president of the Chamber of Deputies, noted she received no invitation and said the presence of SCJN members, including Hugo Aguilar López, undermines perceptions of judicial independence. Ministers Estela Ríos, Lenia Batres, Irene Herrerías, Irving Espinosa and Arístides Guerrero attended.

Rubén Moreira of the PRI criticized the speech for its confrontational tone. PRI senator Carolina Viggiano called it shameful because it was a partisan act.
