A significant security operation will be deployed on Saturday in France for the Champions League final pitting PSG against Arsenal in Budapest.
Laurent Nuñez announced on Wednesday that 22,000 police officers and gendarmes will be mobilized across France, including 8,000 in Paris and its surrounding area. The measure aims to manage expected gatherings during the match.
Last year, during PSG’s win against Inter Milan in Munich, 5,400 officers were deployed in the Paris region. Violence had occurred on the Champs-Élysées and around the Parc des Princes.
Nuñez stated that pedestrianization of the Champs-Élysées is planned in case of victory, along with measures to contain any overflow. He said he had no fears and felt calm. A trophy presentation at the Champ de Mars is also under consideration for Sunday.
