Arlo Parks has revealed her third studio album, Ambiguous Desire, set for release on April 3 via Transgressive Records. The announcement comes with the lead single '2Sided,' accompanied by a music video directed by Molly Burdett. The album draws inspiration from dance icons and queer nightlife scenes.
Arlo Parks, the indie-folk artist known for her introspective songwriting, has announced her third full-length album, Ambiguous Desire, due out on April 3, 2026, through Transgressive Records. This follows her 2023 release My Soft Machine and her 2021 debut Collapsed in Sunbeams, which earned her a Grammy nomination and critical acclaim.
The album features production from Baird, known for work with Brockhampton and Kevin Abstract, and includes a guest appearance by Sampha on the track 'Senses.' Parks drew inspiration from electronic and dance influences such as Burial, The Streets, LCD Soundsystem, and Theo Parrish, as well as historic queer venues like New York's Paradise Garage. Reflecting on the creative process, Parks shared in a statement: "I danced more than ever as I made this record, I made more friends than ever too, found myself in the weird underbelly of New York juke nights, unleashed, laughed and laughed and laughed. This record has desire at its center. Desire is a life force, it’s a wanting, a yearning, a momentum—we are all alive because there is something or someone we want—desire is an engine. But it is also mysterious, tangled, random, enlightening and HUMAN."
The lead single, '2Sided,' explores themes of yearning and tension over grand, dark synths and gentle drum breaks. Parks described it as: "At its core ‘2SIDED’ is about yearning and tension. It’s about being struck by a bolt of desire and building up the courage to put language to that feeling, to make it real." The track's music video, directed by Molly Burdett, is now available.
Since My Soft Machine, Parks has published her debut poetry collection and covered Jai Paul’s 'Jasmine' for a deluxe edition. Last year, she teased new material during 'Sonic Exploration' concerts in London, New York, and Los Angeles, previewing a snippet from 'New Desire.' To support the album, Parks has scheduled an intimate UK record store tour in April 2026, including stops in London, Leeds, Nottingham, and Brighton.
