Becky Hill has criticised comedian Jack Whitehall for calling her 'Wetherspoons Whitney' during last year's BRIT Awards. In a new interview, the singer described the remark as punching down and linked it to her upcoming album.
The comments came while Whitehall hosted the 2025 BRIT Awards. He used the phrase while referencing Hill's Midlands accent. At the time Hill responded on Instagram by noting the privileged backgrounds of several winners that evening, including Charli XCX and members of The Last Dinner Party. She also pointed out Whitehall's own education at a private school costing £52,000 a year.
