Bent Hedonism launches new record label in Manchester

Manchester's queer collective Bent Hedonism has unveiled its new imprint, Bent Hedonism Records, with the debut EP from Juan Ramos. Titled Free Elevation, the release will be available on limited vinyl and digital download starting February 27, 2026. The label aims to highlight emerging talent in the North West's queer-led underground scene.

Bent Hedonism, a Mancunian queer collective based at the Derby Brewery Arms, is entering a new phase by launching Bent Hedonism Records. The inaugural release, BENT001 - Free Elevation EP by Juan Ramos, follows his notable performance at the venue last November. Ramos, a prominent figure in Berlin's queer underground and an affiliate of Cocktail d’Amore, produces music described as "a vivid, hypnotic pressure that playfully explores the space between softness and intensity."

Pre-orders for the EP are available on Bandcamp in digital and 12-inch vinyl formats, with the full release scheduled for February 27, 2026. The label seeks to feature works from recent guests at its events as well as up-and-coming artists in Manchester's queer-led underground, amplifying sounds that reflect the city's changing musical landscape. It aligns with a rising movement of liberation in queer raves while honoring the LGBTQIA+ roots of dance music.

The Bent Hedonism Records Manifesto outlines its principles: it was founded to present the diverse sounds from the Derby Brewery Arms and the wider UK queer rave scene; it views music as a means of freedom, self-expression, and diversity; it welcomes artists who respect dance music's cultural origins and prioritize creativity for community care, without being exclusively queer. The label favors vinyl and direct digital sales over streaming to better support artists. It also recognizes the foundational roles of early LGBTQIA+ and POC contributors from marginalized backgrounds in shaping modern dance music.

To mark the launch, Bent Hedonism is organizing a party at Renae in Manchester's Northern Quarter, featuring a live playback of the EP and performances by Blasha & Allatt, Luke Daniels, and Esmé. Details and tickets are available via their Instagram.
