Brothers die incinerated in motorcycle crash near Campoalegre

Two brothers lost their lives incinerated after a head-on collision between their motorcycle and a van on a rural road in Campoalegre, Huila. The crash happened early on the morning of December 4. The van driver was injured with burns.

The tragic accident occurred in the Otas vereda, in the rural area of Campoalegre municipality, the rice capital of Huila, on the road leading to Hobo municipality. It happened shortly after 5 a.m. on Thursday, December 4. Brothers José Vidal and Brayan Steven Pantoja Trujillo were traveling on an AX100 motorcycle toward Garzón municipality.

Apparently, the motorcycle veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Mitsubishi van. The severe impact caused both vehicles to catch fire immediately. "The two died at the scene of the accident," stated an official source.

Captain Martha Liliana Losada Tangarife, head of the Huila Transit and Transport Section, confirmed on the day of the incident: "Both vehicles were consumed by flames after the impact. Unfortunately, the event leaves two people dead as a toll". The van driver suffered burns on various parts of his body and was taken to a medical center for treatment.

This incident highlights the dangers on Huila's rural roads, where head-on collisions due to lane invasion are a common cause of fatalities. Authorities continue to investigate the exact circumstances of the crash.
