Bubby Upton claimed victory in the CCI4*-L class at the Defender Bramham Horse Trials on 14 June with Its Cooley Time. The win marked an emotional return to form after recent setbacks.
Bubby Upton topped the results with a clear showjumping round. She held a 0.9 penalty lead entering the final phase and delivered an assured performance on the 11-year-old grey gelding.
“I won this last year and subconsciously thought the world was my oyster, but I really believe and hope that now it is,” Upton said. She added that small tweaks and continued faith in the horse proved key after a series of falls.
Selina Milnes finished second on Cooley Snapchat after also jumping clear. Tiana Coudray took third with D’Artagnan following a fault-free round. Aoife Clark placed fourth on Full Monty De Lacense.
The final horse inspection earlier that morning saw Caroline Powell withdraw Greenacres Special Cavalier after the horse was held. Cooley Snapchat was also held but passed re-inspection.
