Carlos Frugoni, infrastructure coordination secretary at Argentina's Economy Ministry, admitted omitting seven Miami apartments from his asset declarations and ARCA filings. He acknowledged the mistake and pledged to correct it, stating he will pay taxes in Argentina. A Coalition Cívica legislator plans to file a complaint over potential crimes.
Carlos Frugoni, under Luis 'Toto' Caputo at Argentina's Economy Ministry, admitted to Clarín and other media that he failed to register seven Miami apartments in upscale areas. “I made a mistake. I was rectifying this situation because now I am a national official. I was wrong. I will also include the apartments in ARCA,” he stated. He confirmed paying taxes in the US and will do so in Argentina.
The properties were mostly bought between 2020 and 2022, when Frugoni led AUSA, which manages Buenos Aires highways, and worked on projects like Paseo del Bajo. He had previously been sanctioned for irregularities in asset declarations. A Newman College graduate and PRO party militant, he rose in Javier Milei's administration from an ad honorem role to his current post overseeing public works tenders and transport subsidies.
The revelation came from A24, but the government has kept him in position. Facundo Del Gaiso, a Coalition Cívica legislator, will file a federal court complaint alleging crimes including money laundering, aggravated tax evasion, violation of the Public Ethics Law, and incompatible negotiations.
