A citizen platform of a dozen neighborhood and environmental groups is asking the regional government to stop the Armonia Green Castellón project in Serrallo.
The No Armonia Green platform is finalizing technical allegations before the Department of Environment ahead of the July 13 deadline. The project, driven by an Ignis subsidiary in alliance with the KKR fund, plans to produce 503,382 tons of green ammonia annually with an investment of 1.656 billion euros.
Carlos Arribas, spokesperson for Ecologistes en Acció del País Valencià, has stated that the project is excessive and unfeasible and has criticized the explosion and fire risks from the two 56,000-ton tanks. A July 2025 report from the Generalitat's Security and Emergencies Agency was already unfavorable to the company.
Opponents denounce that all production will be exported by sea without benefit to the local ceramics industry and warn about the high electricity consumption of 850 megawatts and the brine discharge into the port.
