The CBI arrested Shivraj Motegaonkar, founder of RCC Classes in Latur, on Sunday for allegedly receiving leaked NEET-UG 2026 question papers 10 days before the May 3 exam. He was remanded in CBI custody for nine days on Monday.
Motegaonkar was questioned by the agency for the second time in a week before his arrest. A CBI team searched the premises of RCC Classes in Latur on the same day.
In its remand application, the CBI told a Delhi court that leaked questions were found on Motegaonkar’s phone. The agency alleged he distributed copies of the papers and answer sheets to multiple persons. It also pointed to a video in which he is seen saying that questions given to students matched the final paper.
The CBI described Motegaonkar as an active member of an organised network that obtained the papers by conspiring with public servants linked to the National Testing Agency. He has been booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
This marks the tenth arrest in the widening probe, which has already led to detentions in several cities including Delhi, Pune and Jaipur.
