CBS renews Boston Blue and Sheriff Country for season 2

CBS has renewed its freshman dramas Boston Blue and Sheriff Country for second seasons, just six episodes into their runs. The spin-offs of Blue Bloods and Fire Country will return in 2026. Both shows have performed strongly in viewership, averaging millions of multi-platform viewers.

Renewal Announcement

CBS announced early renewals for Boston Blue and Sheriff Country on December 3, 2025. These join previous multi-year pickups for FBI (Season 9) and Ghosts (Season 6), marking the network's third and fourth renewals for the 2026-27 TV season. New dramas Cupertino and Einstein are also slated for next fall.

"Two new shows on Friday night have become instant hits with audiences quickly embracing 'Boston Blue' and 'Sheriff Country' across broadcast and streaming," said Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment. "These early renewals reflect the power of character-driven storytelling, compelling narratives and the exceptional talent on both sides of the camera that make these series truly stand out."
