Colman Domingo is in early discussions to co-write an original live-action story centered on Princess Tiana. The project draws inspiration from Disney's 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog. He is set to collaborate with director Robert O’Hara on the untitled spin-off.
The effort marks an early-stage development for the feature. Sources indicate that deals remain pending and the work is described as a spin-off rather than a direct remake of the original animated feature.
Domingo recently earned two Emmy nominations this year. He has also received two consecutive Oscar nominations for his performances in Rustin and Sing Sing.
O’Hara is known for directing and writing the 2011 horror thriller Inheritance. The pair's involvement comes as Disney continues to develop several other live-action adaptations of its animated properties.
