At the close of the Feria Internacional del Libro de Bogotá (Filbo) 2026, the Cámara Colombiana del Libro released its annual statistical report on Colombia's publishing sector in 2025. Total sales reached $1.06 trillion, a 7.5% increase from 2024, marking five straight years above one trillion pesos.
Publishing output rose with 19,024 titles produced, up 16.2% from the previous year, and 38.5 million copies printed, a 12.3% gain. Sales volume hit 39.4 million copies, exceeding 37.9 million in 2024. Ficción/No ficción led with $425.679 million, followed by Education ($294.935 million) and Técnico-científico ($227.786 million).
By category, Education saw the biggest title growth (34.8%) and copy increase (20.5%), while religious titles dropped 29.5% but printings rose 3.5%. The domestic market took 91.4% of sales, with bookstores leading channels at 39.7%.
Employment grew 1.9%, though permanent jobs fell 3.2% and temporary ones surged 28.4%. The report emphasizes the sector's adaptability and cultural economic role.
