Condor chief open to sale to Gulf airline

The head of German airline Condor has expressed openness to buyers from the Gulf region in the search for new owners.

Condor chief Peter Gerber told Stern magazine that Condor would probably dock with a larger conglomerate. Market leaders like Lufthansa were ruled out for competition reasons.

Gerber named Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways as possible candidates. Turkish Airlines was also a provider that wanted to grow in Europe.

The airline is 49 percent state-owned. The state wants to sell this stake. The remaining 51 percent belong to British investor Attestor.
