Connié gives birth to Loke standing outside Örebro hospital

Connié Esplund gave birth to her son Loke standing ten metres from the ambulance entrance at Örebro hospital. She and Christoffer Hansbo had driven from Pålboda but contractions came too quickly.

On Wednesday Connié Esplund’s waters broke while she and Christoffer Hansbo sat at home in Pålboda with their two other children. They left the children with their grandmother and drove to Örebro hospital. Just over 25 minutes later they arrived.

After crossing the road from the car park a strong contraction hit. They managed only five more metres before Connié realised the baby was coming. She held onto a fence while Christoffer ran to the door and knocked.

When he turned around Connié was already holding the baby’s head. The whole baby emerged before he reached her. Christoffer knelt and held Loke beneath the mother because the umbilical cord was short. Medical staff arrived moments later.

Loke is doing well and has eaten, slept and handled his needs as expected over the past two days. The couple had joked that the birth would be fast but never expected it to happen this way.
