Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took part in a tree plantation event in Model Town on Monday. She urged residents to help plant 70 lakh saplings under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign during the monsoon season.
The Chief Minister described the campaign as a people’s movement that shows respect for nature, the environment and motherhood. She noted that it links citizens to conservation efforts and supports Delhi’s move toward a cleaner and greener future.
The Delhi government is planting trees along central verges, under metro corridors and on roadsides in the Model Town area. Thousands of people are taking part in the drive, according to Ms. Gupta.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the overall plantation drive on July 7. The Delhi government later opened a portal at www.greendrive.delhivanmahotsav.in so residents can book slots, receive free saplings at home or collect them from government nurseries.
