The funeral service for Senator Solomon Ewuga took place on Saturday at the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC) in Alushi, Nasarawa State. Ewuga, a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, and Senator representing Nasarawa North from 2011 to 2015, passed away on September 23, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt, while receiving medical treatment. He was 70 years old.
Attendees included APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Governor Abdullahi Sule, former Minister of Information Labaran Maku, serving governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, former governors Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, former Minister of Environment Barrister Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, former Deputy Governor Michael John Abdul, National Directorate of Employment Director-General Silas Ali Agara, and former Executive Director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr. Faisal Shuaibu.
Yilwatda urged APC members nationwide to unite and emulate Ewuga's commitment to public service and social justice. Governor Sule emphasized unity's role in state and national development, describing Ewuga as a peaceful man with a good heart. He prayed for forgiveness of Ewuga's shortcomings and eternal rest, consoling his family, the Eggon nationality, and the state on the loss of a meritorious servant.
Labaran Maku, speaking for former deputy governors, called Ewuga a 'political hurricane' in Nasarawa, passionate about development. He said, 'Ewuga was a leader. He did not always get the reward for his fights... The reward comes from God.' Maku stressed politics' duty to uplift the vulnerable and unite the divided state, avoiding needless conflicts.
Josephine Ewuga, the widow, reflected on their 45-year marriage, noting her husband's love for family and others. She said he trained many students and contributed to society despite political challenges, praying for his eternal rest.
In his homily titled 'From Dust to Dust,' ERCC General Secretary Very Rev. Gagara Mallunche urged honest living and acknowledged death's certainty, praising Ewuga's contributions to Nasarawa and Nigeria. The church auditorium overflowed with sympathizers, ending in a moment of silence for his impact.
