Disney’s Hollywood Studios has finished a new shade canopy at Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, ending a seven-month construction project that began in September 2025. The courtyard is now fully open, providing some relief from Florida’s summer heat. Additional updates include new seating near Toy Story Land and ongoing transformations elsewhere in the park.
Construction walls at Savi’s Workshop came down recently, revealing a completed shade structure over the courtyard in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The canopy replaces previous umbrellas with a visually cleaner design, though it may offer slightly less coverage. Blog Mickey reported on April 6 that the outdoor queue area saw minimal changes, mainly new support poles, as part of efforts to enhance guest comfort ahead of summer. Landscaping around the site remains rough following construction and a recent cold snap, and a speeder bike prop has not returned yet. A new seating area has also opened near the Toy Story Land entrance to Galaxy’s Edge, featuring rock-carved benches, wooden tables, light posts, and trash cans. This addition addresses long-standing complaints about limited seating near Woody’s Lunch Box, the popular quick-service spot. The project wrapped up alongside a nearby popcorn kiosk. Further changes are underway, including a timeline shift for Galaxy’s Edge similar to Disneyland’s planned April 29 transition to the original Star Wars trilogy era. Walt Disney World has not announced a date for Hollywood Studios, but it will introduce characters like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa. Meanwhile, the former Animation Courtyard is becoming the Walt Disney Studios Lot, with phased openings this summer, including a courtyard soon and The Magic of Disney Animation later.
