A dermatologist was arrested on Thursday after allegedly bludgeoning and stabbing his domestic help to death at his home in south-east Delhi. Police found the 56-year-old doctor sitting beside the body on the terrace.
Dr Manish Gupta was taken into custody after neighbours alerted police to the murder of Mina Halder at Mount Kailash Apartments. Officers recovered a cricket bat and knife from the living room. Gupta confessed to the attack, telling police the victim would have spoiled his home.
Halder, originally from Kolkata, had worked at the residence for several years and lived nearby with her son and daughter-in-law. Family members expressed shock, noting she had never complained about the household.
The motive remains under investigation. Police registered a murder case based on a neighbour’s complaint after a witness saw the attack on the terrace.
