Actress Duda Wendling, a former A Fazenda 17 contestant, issued a statement on social media to address her mother Camila Wendling's outbursts about missing her ex-son-in-law and family ingratitude. She emphasized her love for her mother while setting healthy boundaries amid a new relationship. The episode followed Camila's WhatsApp posts at year's end.
The family controversy involving actress Duda Wendling made headlines in early 2025 following public outbursts from her mother, Camila Wendling. Camila shared WhatsApp status messages expressing longing for her ex-son-in-law, stating: “How can it be, I miss my ex-son-in-law so much. He really thought of me as family”. In another post, she lamented perceived ingratitude, regretting leaving Globo in 2012 to support her daughter's career: “My biggest regret in life was stepping on Globo in 2012, because people are ungrateful and don't value those who dropped everything”.
Contacted by Fábia Oliveira's column in Metrópoles, Camila downplayed the incident, explaining it was a comparison to the previous year when they spent the holidays in Dubai. “Nothing major, just because last year we were in Dubai”, she said, adding that she missed her daughter during the end-of-year celebrations and that there are no disagreements. She also noted no recent contact with Duda and her boyfriend, Luiz Otávio Mesquita, as the couple was traveling while she remained in Rio de Janeiro.
In response, Duda Wendling posted a statement on social media on Friday (2/1), clarifying the situation and addressing their family relationship. She disclosed that her mother has borderline personality disorder, which creates high expectations for her presence. “With respect and responsibility, I want to make it clear that I love my mother, take care of her, and continue offering support within my limits”, she wrote. Duda highlighted including her mother in Christmas with Luiz Otávio's family: “At Christmas, I made a point of bringing her to spend with me and my boyfriend's family, in a light, happy moment of togetherness”.
The actress stressed her right to new experiences without it implying abandonment: “At the same time, I am also living my life, building my story and being happy. This does not mean abandonment or lack of love, but rather the exercise of my right to live”. She concluded that her mother's crises are not her fault, nor can they be solely her responsibility, aiming “to bring clarity, truth, and healthy boundaries”.
The context unfolds during a renewal phase for Duda, who started a relationship with Luiz Otávio Mesquita during A Fazenda 17 and recently made it official on a trip, with a boyfriend proposal shared on social media.
