Egypt's Industry Minister Khaled Hashem joined the opening of the 32nd Arab Fertilizer Association conference today under Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly's patronage. The country's chemical and fertilizer exports reached $9.4 billion in 2025. The event centered on environmental sustainability and food security.
Hashem stressed the sector's role in boosting agricultural output through projects such as the New Delta Project and Mostaqbal Misr Sustainable Development Project. Exports rose 7 percent from 2024, with key destinations including Italy, Turkey and Brazil.
The government's industrial strategy aims to reach $100 billion in industrial exports by 2030. The ministry is also monitoring the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism to maintain competitiveness.
Officials, investors and producers attended to discuss energy efficiency, circular economy practices and technical education development.
