Electric power network expansion underway in Sidama region

Ethiopian Electric Power states that rehabilitation and maintenance works are underway in Sidama Region to make power supply reliable. This work focuses on corridor development through network expansion.

Addis Ababa, Hidar 28, 2018 (FBC) Ethiopian Electric Power states that rehabilitation and maintenance works are underway in Sidama Region to make power supply reliable.

The agency's communication head, Anwar Abare, told Fana Digital that the ongoing medium voltage power network expansion rehabilitation work covers 103 circuits over 465 kilometers. 995 wooden poles and 1,075 concrete poles have been installed, totaling 2,070 power line supporting poles.

The rehabilitation work covers lines from Hawassa to Wendo Genet, Wara to Anferara, Yirgalem power station to Leku town, and Yirgalem to Loka and Abaya. Additionally, rehabilitation work is ongoing from Aleta Wondo to Hagereselam and Gas Kebelle town to further improve the power network.

Meanwhile, in Hawassa, Yirgalem, and Wendo Genet towns, for corridor development, work to install 743 line supporting poles and 17 transformers has been carried out. For the corridor network expansion, at prepared sites, rehabilitation of 9 circuits 15 km medium line and 16 circuits 9 km low voltage has started.

Furthermore, in Hawassa town from Souza Spring to Haile Resort and Shafeta, pit excavation work is ongoing for installing 12 circuits 5 km underground cable network expansion.
