Eric Bischoff surprised by Chris Jericho's WWE success

Former WCW executive Eric Bischoff has revealed he was surprised by Chris Jericho's rise to stardom in WWE after the wrestler left WCW.

Bischoff discussed the matter on his "83 Weeks" podcast. He said he tried to keep Jericho in WCW and was disappointed when the wrestler departed.

"I was just of the belief that Vince would never give a guy Chris Jericho's size, the kind of push that Chris got; that surprised me," Bischoff recalled. He noted that WWE typically pushed larger-than-life characters built bigger than Jericho.

Bischoff added that he questioned the move at the time. "Why would you not take your chances here?" he said, while acknowledging Jericho may have seen the situation differently.

According to JBL in a prior interview, WWE locker room members were pleased with WCW talent such as Jericho joining the promotion.
