An explosive-laden drone was detected and inhibited by the anti-drone system at the José Hilario López Military Canton in Popayán, Cauca, on July 17, 2026.
The National Army reported that the unmanned aerial device was neutralized before it could detonate. The incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. and prevented damage to a UH-1H Huey helicopter and personnel on site.
No injuries or material damage were reported. Authorities reinforced security measures at the base following the event.
Preliminary investigations point to a structure of FARC dissidents under the command of alias Iván Mordisco, although this hypothesis remains under verification.
