Federal Police launched the ninth phase of Operation Compliance Zero on Thursday (18), with searches targeting Senator Jaques Wagner (PT-BA) and businessman Augusto Lima.
The operation executed 18 search warrants in Bahia, São Paulo and the Federal District, authorized by the Federal Supreme Court. Precautionary measures included passport suspensions and bans on contact between those under investigation.
Bahia Justice Secretary Felipe Freitas described the operation as “pirotecnia”. He said the forced entry into the senator’s residence and the leak of images violated police protocols and the judicial order.
Minister André Mendonça did not order preventive detention for Augusto Lima, unlike the case of Daniel Vorcaro. Sources indicate there were no signs of obstruction of investigations by Lima.
