Ferrari Formula 1 team principal Fred Vasseur will not attend the Monaco Grand Prix on Saturday while undergoing medical checks. Deputy team principal Jerome d'Ambrosio is expected to handle his duties at the circuit.
Track action for final practice is due to start at 12:30pm local time ahead of qualifying at 4pm. Vasseur will remain under observation at a local medical facility. A Ferrari statement said: “Fred Vasseur will not be present at the circuit today. Following some medical checks, Fred will remain under observation at a local medical facility. No further medical information will be provided. We wish Fred a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back at the track soon.” Vasseur spoke on Friday after Ferrari finished first and second in both practice sessions. He said expectations at the team remain measured despite the strong showing. “It's a very long way in Monaco from Friday first to the quali and to the race,” Vasseur said. “The most difficult is that you have to anticipate the evolution of the track, the evolution of the grip.”
