The final took place on Sunday at the SDAT Tennis Stadium in Chennai, where the 30-year-old Portuguese player, seeded sixth and ranked 255 in the world, faced the second-seeded Argentine, ranked 196. Ferreira Silva, a left-hander, relied on strong returning to overcome Gomez's powerful serving.
In the opening set, Ferreira Silva landed 73% of his first serves, keeping Gomez off balance. After an early exchange of breaks, he broke in the ninth game and held serve to take the set 6-4.
The second set mirrored the first with initial breaks traded, but no further breaks occurred. Gomez's eight aces proved crucial as he saved four match points and won a tight tie-breaker 10 points to level the match at one set each.
Ferreira Silva then dominated the decider, racing to a 5-2 lead. Gomez fought back, saving a fifth match point and narrowing the gap to 4-5. However, the Portuguese player held his nerve, securing the win on his sixth match point to claim his maiden Challenger title.
