Festa da Luz alters traffic and bus lines in central BH

Belo Horizonte city hall began a special mobility operation on Monday for the 2026 Festa da Luz festival, scheduled between June 25 and 28.

The main closures affect Viaduto Santa Tereza and Rua Aarão Reis. The viaduct will have full blockages at specific times, including from 10pm to 4am on Monday and Tuesday, plus additional closures during the event.

Drivers descending Rua dos Tamoios or following Rua da Bahia should use alternative routes via Avenida Assis Chateaubriand and other indicated roads. Rua Aarão Reis will be closed between Avenida dos Andradas and Rua dos Tupinambás from Thursday to Sunday.

Several municipal bus lines will have temporary route changes, while metropolitan lines ending at Rua Aarão Reis will operate provisionally on Rua da Bahia. Agents from BHTrans, Guarda Civil Municipal and Polícia Militar will guide drivers and pedestrians.
