A 40-year-old woman has been charged with child abuse after police said she left her 1-year-old son alone in a hot car for about 30 minutes in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Ly Thien Pham was working as an Uber Eats driver when she parked her car outside a restaurant on Sunday afternoon. She left the boy in the backseat with the engine off and hazard lights on, then went inside to pick up an order.
Police said Pham became lost after leaving the restaurant and spent nearly half an hour searching for her vehicle. Officers helped her locate the car, where they found the child sweating heavily.
The boy was taken to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital for treatment. Pham was arrested and booked into the Pinellas County Jail. She posted a $10,000 bond on Monday and was released with conditions, including no contact with the child's aunt.
