Foo Fighters cover Sunny Day Real Estate track with Nate Mendel

Foo Fighters have been performing a cover of Sunny Day Real Estate’s ‘Seven’ during their 2026 Take Cover tour, with bassist Nate Mendel taking lead vocals. Dave Grohl introduced the song at a show in Sweden by highlighting the Seattle band’s influence.

The band has included the track in a medley since a stop in Norway on June 10. The medley also features songs by No Use for a Name and The Wallflowers alongside Foo Fighters originals.

At the June 12 concert at Strawberry Arena in Solna, Grohl told the crowd that he and Mendel met in Seattle long ago. He described Sunny Day Real Estate as “really really wonderful and influential” before handing vocals to Mendel.

Mendel played in Sunny Day Real Estate before joining Foo Fighters in the mid-1990s. The Take Cover tour continues with shows in Liverpool on June 25 and 27.
