Eldridge earned his first call-up to the majors in 2025, but his initial stint was brief and challenging. In 10 games, he managed only 3 hits in 28 at-bats while striking out 13 times. Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report has named Eldridge among 10 prospects who could be dealt during the Winter Meetings. "If the Giants intend on using Rafael Devers as the primary first baseman going forward, they might be inclined to flip Eldridge now rather than locking him into the DH role," Reuter wrote. "The outfield is a clear need, and while they won't simply trade him to trade him, flipping him for the upgrade in the grass or a controllable young arm could jump-start their push back toward contention."
Trading Eldridge would be surprising given his youth and rapid ascent to the big leagues. However, the Giants might entertain offers for an ace-caliber pitcher or a true star to bolster their roster.
