The Presidential Delegation of Los Ríos announced on Friday that it desisted from appointing Jorge Salazar Ruiz as public works seremi, less than 24 hours after the announcement. Club de Deportes Valdivia criticized the nomination due to financial issues during his past management of the club. This is the second similar case in the Government this week.
On Thursday, Presidential Delegate Vicky Gallardo met with mechanical engineer Jorge Salazar Ruiz and welcomed him as the new public works seremi (MOP) for the Los Ríos region, according to a social media post from the delegation.
That same day, the board of Club de Deportes Valdivia issued a statement rejecting the appointment. "Jorge Salazar Ruiz was president of this Corporation and of the Sports Anonymous Society that managed professional football in this city from 2019 to 2022, whose management ended with dismal sports results and disastrous economic resource management," they stated.
They added that his administration recorded "financial irregularities" and "judicial conflicts with the Regional Government of Los Ríos," deeming it deficient both sportingly and administratively.
On Friday, the Presidential Delegation of Los Ríos stated in a brief communique that the nomination "still did not have the materialized appointment decree" and that the corresponding appointment would be announced in due course.
This reversal is the second in a few days. On the same Thursday, the Presidential Delegation of Biobío desisted from appointing Alexander Nanjarí as education seremi after controversial social media posts.
