The Guardia Civil detained six people today in an investigation into alleged corruption crimes at Soria City Hall that affects former mayor Carlos Martínez.
The operation took place on Tuesday under the direction of the Soria Command with support from the UCO. Agents conducted searches at City Hall and linked homes, focused on contracts with Biosfera Soria S.L.
Among the detainees is Tourism and Environment councilor Yolanda Santos, who was arrested along with five others, four in Soria and two in Madrid. The judicial investigation, led by the Court of First Instance number 3 of Soria and the Prosecutor's Office, charges crimes such as influence peddling, administrative prevarication and money laundering.
The City Hall, led by Javier Antón, announced the precautionary suspension of Santos and its cooperation with justice. Carlos Martínez expressed his "total tranquility" and called for respect for the secrecy of the proceedings.
The investigation began after a complaint by a sector businessman to the Prosecutor's Office.
