The Hong Kong Observatory issued an amber rainstorm warning at 11.10am on Sunday and cancelled it at 2.35pm the same day.
The amber alert is the lowest level in Hong Kong's three-tier rainstorm warning system. It signals that heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall generally over the territory, exceeding 30mm in an hour, and is likely to continue.
The forecaster took the warning down after three hours and 25 minutes.
Temperatures throughout the day were expected to range between 27 and 31 degrees Celsius.
