Hot start to Swedish mountain bike championships in Borlänge

The Swedish mountain bike championships have begun in Borlänge with extreme heat as the main challenge for competitors.

The competitions run for a week in Bergebo and at Lugnet in Falun. Borlänge cycling club is hosting the championships for the first time and has built a new cycling arena in Bergebo.

Henry Deckner from Falu CK won the SM gold in the XCC class on the opening day. He spoke about the heat: ”Man får hälla mycket vatten över sig under loppet och ta mycket is innan loppet för att kyla ner kroppen.”

Roger Karlsson, project manager, said the club had planned the event for three years. The club has been entrusted to host the SM next year as well.
