Hyundai unveils holographic windshield and atlas robot at CES 2026

Hyundai Motor Group will showcase its Holographic Windshield Display and new Atlas robot during its CES 2026 presentation. The event highlights advancements in mobility technologies amid a subdued auto presence at the show. Livestreams are available on Hyundai's YouTube channels.

Hyundai's presentation at CES 2026 is scheduled for January 5 at 4PM ET. The company plans to demonstrate more than 30 mobility convergence technologies through its Mobis subsidiary. Central to the showcase is the Holographic Windshield Display, a next-generation heads-up display that projects key vehicle data onto the windshield without obstructing the driver's view. This 18.1-inch vertically expandable display allows passengers to watch videos invisibly to the driver, reducing distractions.

Developed in collaboration with German optics specialist Zeiss, the system uses holographic film to transform the entire front windshield into an ultra-large display surface. Hyundai Mobis describes it as the world's first of its kind, with mass production slated for 2029.

The presentation will also feature Hyundai's AI Robotics Strategy, including a first look at the new Atlas robot. Teaser images depict the robot with a dog-like appearance, aligning with Hyundai's 2020 acquisition of Boston Dynamics. "This next-generation Atlas represents a tangible step toward the commercialization of AI Robotics, highlighting the Group’s commitment to building safe and adaptable robotic co-workers," the company stated in a press release.

Additional topics include electronics and chassis system safety, an AR head-up display, low-power display solutions, and EV drive systems. This comes as CES 2026, held in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9, sees fewer new vehicle reveals due to reduced EV incentives under the Trump administration. The Afeela electric vehicle from Sony-Honda will return, but the focus shifts to in-cabin technologies.
