Indonesian DPR and DPD members from various factions announced the formation of the World Peace Parliamentary Caucus in Jakarta on April 6, 2026. The group plans to campaign for world peace by visiting embassies of conflict-involved nations such as the US and Iran. The initiative responds to escalating global conflicts impacting Indonesia.
Jakarta, VIVA – Ahmad Doli Kurnia, a DPR RI member from the Golkar Party faction, announced the formation of the World Peace Parliamentary Caucus (WPPC) at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday, April 6, 2026. The cross-factional group, comprising around 30 DPR and DPD members, aims to uphold world peace in line with Indonesia's constitutional mandate.
"We have gathered after building communication over the past week, with about 30 fellow DPR and DPD members joining," Doli told reporters. He added that the caucus plans to visit embassies of the US, Iran, Gulf states, and non-involved European countries.
The initiative stems from critical global situations since 2022, starting with Russia versus Ukraine, Israel's 2023 invasion of Palestine, and recent US-Israel escalations against Iran. Indonesia faces energy and economic crises as a result, plus the deaths of three TNI soldiers in an Israeli attack on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon.
In its declaration, the caucus condemns all military aggressions, stresses de-escalation for Hajj pilgrims' safety, and rejects war as a political tool contrary to international humanitarian law. Membership is expected to grow through broader outreach.
