Jeff Jarrett highlighted Maya World's strong showing in the 2026 Women's Owen Hart Cup Tournament Final at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Mercedes Mone won the match for her second straight title, while World received the Most Valuable Player trophy.
Jarrett discussed the bout on his My World podcast. He noted that World, who signed with AEW six months earlier, competed in one of three main events against her idol Mone.
"There was a storyline in that match. There was drama. There was athleticism. There were near falls that just got you mostly invested," Jarrett said. He added that World rose to the occasion after succeeding her mentor Athena to reach the finals.
AEW President and CEO Tony Khan described the 23-year-old World as the most underrated star on the roster and praised her ability to capitalize on opportunities. Mone is scheduled to challenge for the AEW Women's World Championship against Thekla at All In: London in late August.
