AEW star and WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett said on his podcast My World that the feud has created the most chatter around Gunther since he retired John Cena. Jarrett, who praised Aldis as a Nashvillian, noted the story has reinvigorated the Austrian star's character.
The developments began this past weekend at Saturday Night's Main Event. Gunther and Sami Zayn lost to Cody Rhodes and CM Punk after Aldis interfered in the match.
The next day at the SummerSlam 2026 Kickoff Show, Gunther confronted Aldis physically. WWE CCO Paul Levesque then announced their match for SummerSlam in August.
