Jenna Elfman has booked a starring role on Fox's upcoming drama The Interrogator, raising uncertainty about her future on ABC's Shifting Gears. She played Tim Allen's love interest Eve in the show's first two seasons. The new series has received a straight-to-series order for the 2026–27 TV season.
Jenna Elfman, who recurred as Eve in nine episodes of Shifting Gears in 2025, has joined the cast of Fox's The Interrogator as a series regular. She will portray Woodrow, a former CIA rising star now working as a handler for Stephen Fry's character, former MI6 agent Conrad Henry. The thriller, created by Fry, follows Henry as he uses quirky methods to interrogate dangerous criminals when conventional approaches fail. Elfman stars opposite Fry, Luke Kleintank, and Michael Beach in the 12-episode order set for the 2026–27 season, according to Deadline. According to Deadline, Woodrow views her DIA post as a demotion and clashes with Henry while sharing grudging respect with him. Shifting Gears Season 2 ended with Matt, played by Tim Allen, reuniting with Eve at the airport after he surprised her with a ticket to join her overseas. Showrunner Michelle Nader told TVLine the storyline aimed to make the older characters' romance feel real, drawing from her own experiences. Nader said, 'I wanted this relationship — especially for people who are a little older — to feel real.' She noted Matt's loyalty to his late wife shaped his hesitation, but the reunion shows him pushing past fears. With Shifting Gears reportedly renewed for a short Season 3, Elfman's availability remains unclear. TVLine has reached out to ABC and Elfman's representatives for comment.
