Defenseman Jesper Sellgren has signed a new five-year deal with Luleå Hockey that runs through the 2030/31 season. The 28-year-old returns for his seventh campaign with the club after previously playing in North America.
Sellgren, who already had a contract for the upcoming season, agreed to the extension this week. Club officials described the move as a key step in building the roster for the SHL.
New head coach Dennis Hall has told Sellgren he views him as a leading player and expects greater contributions both on and off the ice. Sellgren said the message feels positive and that he plans to help in every way possible.
Assistant general manager Ulf Engman said the club believes Sellgren still has his best seasons ahead. The player had 17 points in 52 regular-season games and six points in seven playoff games last season.
