Indonesia coach John Herdman has named Kevin Diks as mentor for 17-year-old Mathew Baker ahead of FIFA Matchday games against Oman and Mozambique.
The Garuda squad will face Oman on June 5 and Mozambique on June 9 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta. The matches form part of preparations for the 2027 Asian Cup.
Herdman named a 23-player squad that includes Emil Audero, Kevin Diks, and Ole Romeny. Mathew Baker, the Melbourne City left-back who usually features for the Indonesia U-17 side, received his first senior call-up.
"Kevin Diks becomes his mentor this week so he can learn from a Bundesliga player with international experience," Herdman said during training on Monday. Herdman said the experience would help Baker bring new standards back to the youth team.
