John Oliver to guest star on General Hospital

John Oliver will appear in a three-episode arc on the ABC soap opera General Hospital starting July 2. The Last Week Tonight host made the announcement on his show after requesting a role earlier this year.

The guest stint runs through July 6. Oliver also is set to appear on Days of Our Lives from August 11 to 14.

Oliver first asked to join a soap opera during a March segment on Last Week Tonight. He requested a fictional character with a ridiculous name and a storyline involving drama such as murder or slapping.

General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini said Oliver was prepared and professional on set. Oliver called the experience a true honor.

Exact details of his character remain undisclosed.
