It is afternoon in Borlänge, and pupils at Lanternans school have just gone home. Remaining is the staff, now including Kajsa Westgren Forssén. After more than ten years at Samhall, she has obtained a permanent position as the school's sole cleaner.
Kajsa says she almost thought it impossible. She is one of 1,310 people in Sweden who in 2025 advanced from Samhall to employment on the open labour market, as reported by Dala-Demokraten.
Samhall is a state-owned company providing sheltered employment for people with disabilities or other challenges entering the labour market. The transition to open jobs represents a key milestone for many.
