Head coach Magnus Bogren was absent from the bench due to recovery from a minor surgery performed earlier in the week. Speaking from the trainer's room during the match, when it was still 0-0, Bogren noted the team needed to "släppa loss lite mer" (loosen up a bit) and planned to discuss observations with assistants Danne Rahimi and Stefan Öhman afterward. Despite the loss, Öhman viewed it positively as a tight contest rather than a blowout: "I dag är det en tajt match, 2–3 och den går på en skridsko in. Det är inte 9–0." He denied any loss of humility, stating the players arrive daily eager to improve, though periods of frustration can arise.
Kalmar's Giorgio Estephan made his debut for the team, lining up with Jesper Lindén and Valdemar Johansson; it was his first game since March 13 with Ässät in Liiga.
