President José Antonio Kast urged political leaders to recover commitment to Chile during the Glorias Navales commemoration in Valparaíso. Defense Minister Fernando Barros stressed the need to overcome divisions to advance the country's development.
During the commemoration of the 147th anniversary of the Naval Combat of Iquique and Punta Gruesa on May 21 in Valparaíso, President José Antonio Kast highlighted the enduring values of loyalty, honor and patriotism. After watching the parade, he noted that these principles are present in the Armed Forces and in every Chilean, and called on political leaders to draw inspiration from Arturo Prat.
The president stated that the branches of government were represented at the ceremony and urged work toward national development. “We all must have that deep commitment, as Arturo Prat did, to move our nation forward,” he said.
For his part, Defense Minister Fernando Barros called for setting aside political grudges and lack of dialogue. He emphasized that patriotism today means a shared effort among political forces, business leaders and citizens to achieve jobs, development and growth in the country.
