A 56-year-old Colorado man is accused of striking three women in a Denver crosswalk and dragging one of them under his vehicle for half a block. The incident occurred early Sunday morning near 20th and Larimer streets. Cesario Serrato faces potential charges of vehicular assault and DUI.
Serrato allegedly ran a red light around 2:30 a.m. while driving a BMW and hit three women aged 19 to 24. One victim, a 21-year-old, was pulled underneath the car and dragged approximately half a block before the vehicle stopped in traffic.
Witnesses described the driver showing no signs of stopping. "He had no intention of stopping," one told KDVR. Another witness, Xavier Thomas, said he chased the vehicle and heard screams of "She's under the car" once it halted at a light.
Bystanders and officers lifted the vehicle to free the victim. Serrato was arrested after displaying an extreme level of intoxication. Court records indicate he was driving with a revoked license and has prior traffic offenses.
