A 23-year-old man has been detained by the National Police after the death of his 22-year-old Spanish partner in Madrid's Carabanchel district. The incident occurred on Saturday morning.
At 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, the woman was found unconscious in the street with a severe head injury. Emergency services confirmed her death shortly afterward.
National Police officers located the detained man in a nearby residence. Police sources said the pair were in a relationship and the investigation indicates the victim was thrown from a fourth-floor window.
The case is being investigated as possible gender-based violence by the Violent Crimes unit. If confirmed, it would be the twentieth woman killed for this reason in Spain so far this year and the second in the Madrid region.
Authorities have reminded victims of available resources, including the 016 helpline and the Alertcops app.
