Mark Sears scores first NBA points in Bucks loss

Former Alabama All-American Mark Sears tallied his first NBA points by scoring eight of the Milwaukee Bucks' final 10 in a 128-100 loss to the Toronto Raptors. In his second NBA game, Sears played the final 4:41 and finished with a plus-minus of zero. The rookie free agent signed a two-way contract with Milwaukee after going undrafted.

Mark Sears made his mark in the NBA during the Milwaukee Bucks' matchup against the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night. Entering the game with Milwaukee trailing by 28 points, Sears played the final 4:41. He missed a 14-foot jump shot early in his stint but quickly found the score sheet by making the first of two free throws with 3:02 remaining, marking his initial NBA points.

Sears' first NBA basket arrived via a 3-point shot with 2:28 left. After missing another 3-point attempt, he sank two free throws at 1:25 and capped his scoring with another pair at 28 seconds, contributing eight of Milwaukee's last 10 points in the 128-100 defeat. His plus-minus of zero stood out, as he was the only Bucks player without a negative rating.

This performance came in Sears' second NBA appearance. He debuted on Oct. 26 in a 118-113 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, logging 7:23 of court time but missing his only shot attempt. A first-team consensus All-American in the 2024-25 season at Alabama, Sears averaged 18.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game that year. Undrafted, he joined Milwaukee as a rookie free agent in July on a two-way contract worth $636,435 for the 2025-26 season.

Prior to the NBA, Sears played in all four Bucks preseason games, averaging 12 points, three assists, two rebounds, and one steal in 18:38 of action. He shot 4-of-6 from the floor, including 1-of-2 from three-point range, and 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. A calf strain sidelined him from the NBA 2K26 Summer League in July.
