Mayor Casagua delivers renovated Cultural House in Comuna 9

After seven years of abandonment, Mayor Germán Casagua Bonilla handed over the renovated Cultural House in Neiva's Comuna 9, with an investment of 280 million pesos. The space now provides a safe environment for children, youth, and adults in artistic activities. The project aims to strengthen cultural identity and steer youth away from vulnerabilities.

In Neiva, on January 11, 2026, the City Hall delivered the Cultural House of Comuna 9 after a comprehensive renovation that took little time. The 280 million peso investment covered the complete replacement of floors and ceilings to improve aesthetics and acoustics, upgrades to electrical networks and lighting, installation of new sanitary facilities, deep disinfection, and fresh interior and exterior painting.

Mayor Germán Casagua Bonilla expressed his satisfaction: “We did this work in a very short time, with excellent finishes with a little investment, so that from this moment on the cultural training schools of the Neiva City Hall will be present, we will arrive with endowment implements for our children. The invitation to parents so that children occupy their free time in the Cultural House of Comuna 9, which turned out spectacular, I feel very happy”.

The Secretary of Culture emphasized the impact: “This is an investment in Neiva's future. By dignifying the Cultural House of Comuna 9, we are ensuring that our children and youth have quality settings for their artistic training processes, keeping them away from vulnerability and enhancing their creativity”.

Bernardo Rubiano, president of the Association of Councilors, valued the effort: “The recovery of this space is a very important step to strengthen culture, our traditions, and provide youth with healthy alternatives for free time. We recognize Mayor Germán Casagua's will to change the face of this Cultural House, which we receive today totally renewed”.

Luz Marina Gasca, from the Planning Advisory Council, highlighted its local relevance: “The remodeling and maintenance of the Cultural House of Comuna 9 are fundamental for those of us who live in this area. It is the cultural, educational, and recreational space that children, youth, and older adults needed to learn dance, music, and theater”.

Julián Patarroyo, cultural manager of the comuna, added: “For us cultural managers, this new Cultural House will be great support for teaching dance, music, and arts in one of the city's most vulnerable areas”.

This center positions itself as the hub for the Art and Culture Schools, promoting dance, music, theater, and visual arts in optimal conditions for community development.
